In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Denki Dynamics from losing the game, 5-4, to the Kyoto Owls in 11 innings at Owls Park. Wakayama was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Kyoto reliever Alexis Perales picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Atsumi Shibata absorbed the loss. Denki's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
The Owls procured the win, in large part because of first baseman Akihito Otani. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Fans understand the heart of this club is really, really strong, beating all the time," said Owls manager Tomoya Nagao.
