| Iwamoto Hits 2 home runs in Kingfishers Win | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Yokohama Kingfishers and Kyoto Owls.
The Yokohama Kingfishers defeated the Kyoto Owls, 6-3, at Kanagawa Stadium. Yokohama was led by 23-year old right fielder Toyoji Iwamoto, who slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The Kingfishers, now 27-38, have won 4 in a row.
Iwamoto had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Michinaga Sekiguchi, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Kingfishers a 4-3 lead. It was the 21st home run of the year for Iwamoto.
"I know we have our doubters," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao. "But I still have high hopes for this team." | |
