| Tight Tilt Goes to Bears, 2-1 | Sapporo and Kyoto took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Sapporo Bears, behind a great outing from Katsumasa Hashimoto, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a 5.5 K/9 rate, defeated the Kyoto Owls, 2-1, at Owls Park. Hashimoto, the winner, moves to 4-7. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks.
The Bears got a big at-bat from left fielder Tomiyuki Kusumoto. For the game, Kusumoto went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Sapporo a 2-0 lead.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hashimoto.
