| Kingfishers Lick Bears, 10-1 | The Yokohama Kingfishers coasted to a win over the Sapporo Bears, 10-1. Thoki Kaneshige had a good day at the plate for Yokohama. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6. Tatsuo Sato got the win, improving to 6-5. He held the Bears to 1 run on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The Eastern League-leading Kingfishers have a record of 33-20.
With Yokohama leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Kaneshige hit a curveball from Tomochika Takada for a grand slam home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Kingfishers ahead, 6-0.
