| Kyoto 4-3 Losers to Kingfishers | The Yokohama Kingfishers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Kyoto shortstop Bungo Arai by beating the Owls, 4-3, at Kanagawa Stadium. Arai went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Yoisuke Nishizawa recorded the save, his 6th. The Kingfishers saw their win-loss record go to 23-34. At the same time, the Owls fell to 32-24.
The Kingfishers got a big at-bat from second baseman Teruo Kamiya. For the game, Kamiya was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Yokohama a 4-3 lead.
Kamiya told a Yokohama Times reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
