| Owls Lose Late, 6-4 | The Yokohama Kingfishers beat the Kyoto Owls, 6-4, at Kanagawa Stadium. Buncho Fukuhara, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Yokohama reliever Shouya Yokoyama, now 1-0. The loser was Norikazu Takai. Yoisuke Nishizawa earned the save, his 5th, for the Kingfishers.
Had Fukuhara not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Fukuhara hit a 2-run single. The Kingfishers took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
Fukuhara told a Yokohama Times reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
Yokohama is 22-34 and Kyoto, with the loss, 32-23.
