Late Rally by Bears Locks Up 8-7 Win
Yokohama third baseman Yodo Otsuki had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Otsuki went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, even as Sapporo beat the Kingfishers, 8-7. Yukinobu Nobuhara recorded the save for Sapporo, his 4th of the season. The Bears have now won 5 straight.

Tomiyuki Kusumoto, who is tied for 7th in the EL with a .932 OPS, helped out the Sapporo cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.

Bears manager Ritsuo Yoshida wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
