Kusumoto Goes Deep Twice in 7-5 Bears Win
The Sapporo Bears beat the Yokohama Kingfishers, 7-5, at Kanagawa Stadium. Sapporo left fielder Tomiyuki Kusumoto led the way. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Katsumasa Hashimoto picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 3-4. Eisaku Yamaoka recorded the save for Sapporo, his 2nd of the season.

With Sapporo trailing 5-2 in the top of the ninth, Kusumoto hit a splitter from Taishi Yoshimura for a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Bears ahead, 6-5.

"Tomiyuki was ready to go. Big day for him," said Sapporo manager Ritsuo Yoshida.

The Bears, at 19-26, have now won 4 straight.
