| Owls Go Down to Defeat, 5-2 | Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Reliables beat the Owls.
The Hosho Reliables got a stellar effort from pitcher Naruto Noda, helping Hosho score a win over the visiting Kyoto Owls, 5-2. Noda, now 6-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs.
Akitoshi Yamane dealt the Owls a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Hosho leading 3-2, Yamane hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"Because of Naruto, we won that ballgame," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura.
Hosho sits in first place in the Eastern League at 31-14.
