| Kingfishers Popped by Owls, 6-4 | Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Kyoto Owls take on the Yokohama Kingfishers.
Kyoto first baseman Toyohiro Wada was a significant contributor in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Yokohama Kingfishers. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Owls. Norikazu Takai, the winner, is now 7-2. He struck out 3 and walked 3 over 8 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Picking up his 9th save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Kenshin Kon.
With Kyoto leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Wada came up to bat against Yokohama pitcher Munenao Shintani. Wada hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Owls on top, 6-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Wada told the Kyoto Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The win puts the Owls at 26-14, while the Kingfishers drop to 15-27.
