| Los Angeles Hangs 5-3 Loss on St. Louis | The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Starting pitcher Pete Meissner pitched well enough to help the Los Angeles Suns beat the St. Louis Pioneers, 5-3. Meissner picked up the win for Los Angeles, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 7-6. The save was Ron Clark's, his 20th.
Tom Lally, who finished 4th in the FA in extra base hits with 52 last year, took St. Louis hurler Jack Cornwell deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Suns on top, 4-3. In all, Lally had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Meissner said. "And the same is true when you lose."
The Federal Association West-leading Suns have a record of 50-35. | |
