| McGowan at His Best, Blanks Santa Clara Friday, January 20th , 1950 Dick McGowan of the Cienfuegos Crocodiles spun his magic on the Santa Clara Stallions today. He blanked them 6-0 on 4 hits, registering 3 strikeouts and 4 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," McGowan said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Cienfuegos skipper George Stone said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Dick pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
To date this season McGowan sports a 4-4 mark with a 3.95 ERA in 9 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .255 batting average and has 38 strikeouts in 70.2 innings.
