Seattle Goes Scoreless Against Schoen, Acorns
Tuesday, September 4th , 1917
The Seattle Warriors were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Oakland Acorns and hurler George Schoen. Schoen kept the Warriors confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Schoen," Seattle manager Irv Thomas said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 29-year-old right-hander had 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Schoen said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To date this year, Schoen has compiled a 23-9 mark with a 2.93 ERA in 36 starts.
