 | Calvados on Fire: 5-for-5 for San Francisco Saturday, October 11th , 1913 San Francisco Miners left fielder Mike Calvados banged out 5 hits, but it was not enough to keep his club from succumbing to the Oakland Acorns, 15-9. He went 5-for-5 and raised his batting average a few points. "If the hits keep coming," an upbeat Calvados said after the game, "the runs will too. And, more importantly, so will the wins." Mike Calvados singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Fred Gill in the 9th. Calvados has collected 223 hits for the Miners this year, 13 of them home runs. He has also netted 94 RBIs and scored 118 runs while batting .344. |   |
