 | Hawkins Tosses 3-0 Shutout for San Francisco Thursday, September 28th , 1916 San Francisco Miners starter Tom Hawkins really did a number on the Sacramento Maroons, shutting them out, 3-0, on 9 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 3 walks and had 8 strikeouts. "We didn't have good at-bats," said Sacramento manager Brian Clary. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Hawkins."
