 | WCA Names Top Player of the Week Monday, August 28th , 1916 The West Coast Association has named its Top Player of the Week. The honor went to Al Phillips, catcher of the Oakland Acorns. In an extraordinary hitting display, he belted out hits at a .522 pace to win the award. Phillips went 12-for-23 for the week, totaled no home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 7 times. So far this season, Phillips is batting .350 with 2 home runs. |   |
