Yukio Watanabe Named Premier EL Player

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 1974 Most Valuable Player Award in the Eastern League. It had already been a very special season for Hosho's Yukio Watanabe, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Yukio Watanabe gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .287 as he collected 134 hits, 23 doubles, no triples, 45 home runs and 104 RBIs.

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 12. Hideharu Nomura of the Rakisuta Rams finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Hank Dunham of the Hosho Reliables finished third.
