 | Owls Arai Snags EL Player of the Week Monday, September 16th , 1974 Bungo Arai, known affectionately as "the old man" by the younger players in the Owls clubhouse, showed his teammates how to do it last week -- and in the process the 36-year-old vet beat out all competition for the Eastern League Player of the Week Award. He put up a .400 batting average, 10 hits in 25 at-bats, 6 home runs and 14 RBIs. Arai also scored 9 runs. In 122 games this year, Arai has posted a .306 average and put up these numbers: 30 home runs, 79 RBIs and 102 runs scored. |   |
