 | Sonoda Announces Retirement Sunday, September 15th , 1974 Fujimaro Sonoda announced his retirement today according to sources inside the Yokohama Kingfishers organization. Sonoda, who is 39 years old, gave reporters some of his plans for the near future. "I'm going to do a lot of hunting and fishing," he said. "I've always been focused on getting ready for the next season, so maybe now I can slow down and enjoy time away from it all." Sonoda went back and forth with the press in a friendly manner during his press conference. "I'm sure there's a small-mouth bass out there with my name on it," he said. Lifetime Sonoda is hitting .239 with 299 doubles, 22 triples, 182 home runs, 968 RBIs and 916 runs scored. He has appeared in 2158 games to date and delivered 1771 hits. |   |
