 | Shimada's Strong Week Earns EL Trophy Monday, September 25th , 1961 Tomonori Shimada of the Kyoto Owls has just enjoyed one of the better weeks of his career. That fact was not lost on Eastern League officials, who named him Player of the Week. Shimada logged a .458 batting average for the Kyoto Owls, racking up 8 RBIs and 1 home run. So far in 1961 Shimada is batting .308 with 18 home runs, 84 RBIs and 99 runs scored. He has 150 hits in 487 at-bats and a .414 OBP. |   |
