 | No Recovery For Shipwrights Givens, Retires Tuesday, September 5th , 1916 Wilmington Shipwrights right fielder Willie Givens was forced to make the hard decision to call it quits today after suffering a serious setback in his rehabilitation. Givens told reporters, "I hoped that I would be able to come back from this injury, but it's not looking like that will be the case anymore. It's looking more and more like I will have to retire from baseball." This year, Givens has hit at a .287 clip with 16 RBIs, no home runs and 6 runs scored. |   |
