| Yamanaka Tosses Shutout Against Hosho Monday, September 16th , 1963 It wasn't easy but the Rakisuta Rams made it look that way.
Starter Yamada Yamanaka shut out the Hosho Reliables despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Rakisuta Rams cruised to victory, 4-0. Yamanaka allowed only 2 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This season, Yamanaka has a 9-11 mark in 27 starts with a 3.40 ERA. He has given up 174 hits in 195.2 innings, struck out 143 and issued 48 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .234 batting average against him.
