 | August's #1 Rookie Named by EL Sunday, September 1st , 1963 When you think of rookies, you think of men in their early to mid-20's. Despite the fact that John McDonald is 31, he made a big splash by putting up solid numbers to win Eastern League Rookie of the Month honors. He told BNN reporters at the press conference, "I'm thrilled beyond words. All I can say is... better late than never." In August, the Kyoto second baseman hit .300 while rapping out 27 hits, 4 home runs, 20 RBIs and 16 runs scored. McDonald is batting at a .248 pace this season, picking up 64 hits in 258 at-bats with 6 home runs, 29 RBIs and 36 runs scored. |   |
