 | EL Star of the Week Honored Monday, August 12th , 1963 25-year-old Kinnojo Hirao sent shock waves through Baseball Association of Nippon last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Eastern League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Hirao made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .324 average, 11 hits in 34 at-bats, 5 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Where the Denki Dynamics first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Hirao certainly made his mark last week. To date this season, Hirao is hitting .275 with 23 home runs. |   |
