 | Yoshimura Tops Eastern League Pitchers Thursday, October 19th , 1950 The Sapporo Bears have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Kinzo Yoshimura, this year's Eastern League Noburu Kagawa Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Yoshimura compiled a 14-13 record in 35 starts, tallied 145 strikeouts in 277 innings and recorded a 2.76 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .245 batting average against him. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Steve Noel of the Sapporo Bears finished second in voting, while Itsuya Takahashi of the Kyoto Owls finished third.
