| Shintani Shackles Sapporo Sunday, September 28th , 1975 It wasn't easy but the Yokohama Kingfishers made it look that way.
Starter Munenao Shintani shut out the Sapporo Bears despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Yokohama Kingfishers cruised to victory, 1-0. Shintani allowed only 5 hits and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
In 25 starts this season, Shintani has registered a 7-13 record and a 4.26 ERA.
