 | Reading Loses, 4-0, to Turnpikes, Wofford Tuesday, September 12th , 1893 Gene Wofford was in a mood to talk following the Lancaster Turnpikes contest against the Reading Ironmasters, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Ironmasters, 4-0. "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Wofford said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again." The left-hander blanked Reading on a 2-hitter, allowing 5 walks and racking up 3 strikeouts. Checking out his stats for the year, Wofford has racked up 21 wins and 18 losses in 41 starts, posted a 4.09 ERA, and struck out 115 batters in 345.2 innings. |   |
