The Fukuoka Falcons hurler used his well-honed skill to put up superlative numbers last week against Western League hitters to take home the prize.
Matsumura won 2 while striking out 10 in 18 innings. He also logged an ERA of 0.50 and held opposing hitters to a .136 average.
So far this season, Matsumura has compiled a 9-6 record with a 1.85 ERA.
