| 3-HR Binge for Hirao Against Kyoto Tuesday, August 5th , 1975 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Kinnojo Hirao swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Kanda Stadium, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Kyoto Owls were better.
The Denki Dynamics couldn't capitalize on the big game from Hirao and dropped the contest, 6-4.
The mood in the Dynamics clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Owls to spoil the day for Hirao.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Denki manager Carl Johnson said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Hirao collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Denki first baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
Kinnojo Hirao hit a two-run home run off Takamitsu Fujiwara in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Takamitsu Fujiwara in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Takamitsu Fujiwara in the 8th.
Hirao is batting .268 this year with 27 home runs, 75 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 84 hits in 313 at-bats. | | |
