 | Shingen Fukui Wins EL Trophy Monday, July 21st , 1975 24-year-old Shingen Fukui sent shock waves through Baseball Association of Nippon last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Eastern League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Fukui made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .556 average, 10 hits in 18 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBI. Where the Sapporo Bears third baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Fukui certainly made his mark last week. Fukui is currently hitting at a .256 pace with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and has scored 19 times. |   |
