| Eastern League Selects Best Performer Monday, June 9th , 1975 In the twilight of his career, 37-year-old Kinnojo Hirao of Denki recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Eastern League Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Hirao told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Hirao outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 9 hits in 22 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
This year, Hirao is batting .295 with 12 home runs and 26 RBIs. In 35 games he has scored 22 times. | | |
