August's Top Starter Named in SEL

The Southeastern League named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award.
It went to Eddie Emerson of Charlotte Bluebirds, who impressed the voters with a glittering 5-1 record in August.

The Charlotte star hurler made 6 starts, allowed 42 hits in 47 innings, struck out 54 and had a 1.91 ERA.

For this year, Emerson has chalked up 9 wins and 1 loss in 10 starts with 85 strikeouts in 83 innings and a 2.28 ERA.
August's Best SEL Hitter is Rip Johnson

Rip Johnson put together a good August to earn the Southeastern League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Arlington officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Patriots third baseman posted a .389 batting average with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

Johnson is hitting .377 for the season with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has 75 hits in 199 at-bats and played in 51 games.
