"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Stars hurler finished with 1 strikeout and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," New York manager Jim Abernathy said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Thompson has fashioned a 3-1 mark, 1.67 ERA and pitched 43 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .186 against him and he has logged 24 strikeouts.
