| Steinbach Rips Cleveland for 5 Hits Wednesday, April 30th , 1975 A jubilant Ken Steinbach joined the postgame press conference at Stade Montreal to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Cleveland Foresters pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Montreal Saints third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 12-2 Saints win.
"He made it look easy," said Ray Parsons, manager of the Foresters. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Ken Steinbach hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Manuel Andreu in the 2nd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In his season totals Steinbach has 2 home runs and a .304 batting average.
