| Keystones Score Late, Clip Suns, 6-5 | Behind a solid performance from left fielder Bobby Phelps, the Philadelphia Keystones defeated the Los Angeles Suns, 6-5. Phelps was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Keystones. Don McKeown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Whitey Stewart, who finished 5th in the FA in saves with 17 last year, was tagged with the loss. The loss drops the Los Angeles record to a disappointing 9-12.
Philadelphia got a knockout punch from Dick Christian. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Los Angeles skipper Bill Morrill.
