"Joe was very aggressive tonight," Chicago manager Dutch Becker said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Cipolla tallied 6 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager Bill Freeman said. "Cipolla has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
Cipolla has fashioned a 7-1 mark for the season, 4.32 ERA and thrown 75 innings in 10 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .291 against him.
