 | Thomsen Gets 5 Hits Friday, October 12th , 1917 It seemed that New York center fielder Ted Thomsen could do no wrong as the Gothams KO'd the Stars, 4-3. Thomsen rapped out 5 hits in 10 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Stars hurlers were throwing. "I think the Gothams were stealing signs," growled one unhappy New York fan after the game. "I felt good. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Thomsen in the postgame press interview.
