Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Gothams, 4-3
When the games really matter, the New York Gothams put on their best show, beating the New York Stars by a final score of 4-3. Mike Goodwin came in in relief and pitched to 38 batters. New York now leads New York 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.

The decisive blow was delivered by Ted Thomsen in the bottom of the 23rd when he hit a solo home run off 34-year old left-handed pitcher Harry Powell to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Thomsen said.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 14th , 1917 at Riverside Stadium II in New York.
