What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 1961 Whitney Award in the Continental Association. It had already been a very special season for Cleveland's John Low, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long John Low gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .331 as he collected 183 hits, 48 doubles, 10 triples, 14 home runs and 111 RBIs.

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 16. Pat Davis of the Kansas City Kings finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Hank Williams of the Kansas City Kings finished third with 3 first place votes.
