 | Pittsburgh Loses, 1-0, to Beavers, Brantley Monday, September 10th , 1917 Amos Brantley pitched a strong game at Maumee Park II, blanking the Pittsburgh Mechanics, 1-0. Brantley, who led the UL in strikeouts with 230 in 1914, allowed no runs on 6 hits, totaled 3 strikeouts and gave up no walks. Toronto manager Máximo Rios said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Brantley. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," Rios said.
