 | Stars Come up Short of Playoffs Sunday, October 8th , 1961 In what starting pitcher Sy Dunn called a "devastating blow" for baseball fans in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Stars won't be a part of the playoffs this season. They were officially eliminated from contention earlier today. This is the club's 9th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1952. In total, the Stars have missed the playoffs 58 times in their 70-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Stars have only made the playoffs once. Los Angeles last won the World Championship Series in 1946. |   |
