In an impressive mound performance, Wally Phillips of the Washington Eagles checked the Boston Minutemen on a 4-hitter and held them scoreless.

"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said Boston manager Harry Barrell. "Phillips kept us confused the whole game."

The Washington hurler rang up 6 strikeouts and issued 7 walks in his 7-0 shutout victory.
