Nielsen Raps Chicago for 5 Hits
Friday, September 1st , 1961
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the New York's 13-4 win over Chicago, left fielder Jim Nielsen was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Gotham Stadium.

"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Nielsen said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."

Jim Nielsen singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.

Nielsen is batting at a .255 pace this season, picking up 96 hits in 377 at-bats with 8 home runs, 42 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
