The New York Imperials knocked off the Cincinnati Cannons, 8-4, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Owen Drake was a big reason New York won. The second baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Jim White got credit for the win, improving to 11-4. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 7 innings. The triumph puts New York at 41-39 for the season.

New York used a timely hit from Jack Peeples to get the win. The catcher stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Imperials ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Peeples.
