 | Toronto Defeats New York Monday, October 16th , 1916 This is the time of the baseball season when grown men are reduced to tears. This year, the Toronto Beavers were shedding tears of joy and the New York Gothams those of sorrow. The Beavers topped the Gothams today 1-0 at Bigsby Oval II and locked up their 3rd Federally Aligned Baseball Leagues World's Championship Series championship, winning the series 4-3. "To come this far and leave empty-handed is not easy," said New York manager Bob Kuhl.
