 | Easton Brilliant, Blanks Saints Sunday, September 24th , 1916 "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage. Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting. Bob Easton of the Washington Eagles proved the point at Parc Dumfries, holding the Montreal Saints to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory. "Easton made us look real bad today," Saints manager Jim Jenkins said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking." Easton had 3 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Eagles took the 3-0 win.
