| Stars Sneak Past Mechanics, 3-2 | The New York Stars racked up a win at Cocker Park, bumping off the Pittsburgh Mechanics, 3-2, in 15 innings. Ray Cox, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. The Union League-leading Stars have a record of 84-62.
New York used the timely hitting of Victor Cogburn to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put the Stars on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Cogburn said after the game.
