 | Shearer Joins Kings of Clout with #400 Thursday, September 5th , 1963 Chicago's 7-1 victory over Minneapolis was highlighted by Rod Shearer's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases. "I didn't see all of them out there," Shearer said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!" In 3 at-bats the Chiefs right fielder collected 3 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs, and had 1 run batted in.
