| Kings Pull Out Late Win, 3-2 | Starting pitcher Swede Hawkins gave the Seattle Kings a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Dallas Wranglers, 3-2, at Norris Stadium. Seattle reliever John Bennet got the win, raising his record to 7-3. Frank Skiles was tagged with the loss. The Kings bumped their record to 93-49 with this latest triumph.
Jesse Scott, who finished 4th in the FA in runs with 86 in 1968, had a direct impact on the outcome. Scott contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Seattle up, 3-2.
"Tough loss," said Dallas manager Vic Kramer. "But that's how the cookie crumbles." | |
