 | Ralph Hanson Gets Hit Number 2000 Wednesday, July 31st , 1963 It was a day of mixed emotions for Montreal left fielder Ralph Hanson, who collected his 2000th hit in the club's 14-1 loss to San Francisco. Saints and Sailors fans alike cheered Hanson as he reached base after his milestone hit. "I wish the score had been different," Hanson said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special... even the fans wearing Sailors caps were cheering me." Hanson was 1-for-3 on the day. Looking at his all-time stats, Hanson has a lifetime .295 average with 2000 hits, 367 doubles, 122 triples, 77 home runs and 795 RBIs.
