| Mack Skunks Pittsburgh, 1-0 Saturday, July 27th , 1963 St. Louis hurler Frenchy Mack put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Pittsburgh Miners with a 1-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 4 hits with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks to pick up the win.
"I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Pittsburgh manager Harry Barrell told reporters after the game.
So far this season, Mack has logged a 14-4 record with a 1.67 ERA. He has started 20 games, hurled 161.1 innings and registered 133 strikeouts and 47 walks.
